Educate
Skill development is how a person or organization self-invests. As we've said throughout this site, people retain more information if they see and hear something. As we see it, it's
one thing to browse through documentation, it's quite another to see what is being taught and hear accounts of other people who have done it.

Customer How-To Video
What it is:
A way to show your clients how to use your product or service. By using actors, staff, other customers, and demonstrations, a Customer-How-To Video becomes a helpful, effective communication
tool that teaches and improves customer relations.
Who uses them?
Any company can benefit from them.
Where they are shown?
At your customer's house or business to be viewed when convenient.
Some added benefits:
Since more people are likely to watch a video or CD-ROM than read a manual, the program can cut down on the volume of incoming customer support phone calls and leave your staff free to deal
with larger issues.
Get more for your money:
If your product or service has an international market, you can make one program and translate the narration into several different languages. |
 |
Safety Procedures Program
What it is:
A video for your staff or customers who use your product. It demonstrates how to safely use your product by covering topics such as what protective clothing to wear and the proper procedures.
Where they are shown:
At employee orientation and training sessions, or it can be sent to clients or companies using your product.

Employee Training Video
What it is:
A way to show your staff how to use or sell your product or service. It can also be used to show your staff new procedures, or how you would like them to communicate with each other and with
your customers. Using actors, other staff, customers and demonstrations, it is an effective tool to help your staff understand your products, services, or approved company philosophy and
procedures.
Who uses them?
Companies large and small.
Where they are shown?
At a large group training session, on your company intranet, in your employees office or at their homes.
Some added benefits:
These programs can be used in conjunction with a live training session to help your audience remember what you are trying to teach them. If you are a larger company and your budget is a little
tighter this year, try broadcasting the program over your company intranet or send tapes or CD-ROM's to your employees and save on the travel expenses of trying to get everyone in the same
place at the same time.

Patient Education Program
What it is:
This video can help physicians explain complex medical concepts such as surgical procedures or treatment to their patients.
Who uses them?
Doctors, hospitals, assisted-care providers and associations.
Where they are shown:
Either at the office, care facility, or at the patient's home. More general programs, such as "How to Take Care of Your Heart", could be shown in a waiting room. |

Training Session Documentation
What it is
: A videotape of a live training session. It can be viewed by employees who were unable to attend the original session or reviewed by those who need a refresher course. It can also be archived
as proof of compliance with mandated training requirements.
Where they are viewed:
At home or at the office.
Things to consider:
Quality audio and good visual integration of supporting graphics are essential elements of effective documentation. In this regard, there is no substitute for experience, planning, and the
knowledgeable use of the proper equipment. Use a company with experience shooting live presentations. Also, slides and other media presentations such as PowerPoint will look better and be
more effective if they are supplied to the video production company after the meeting to be properly reinserted into the edited master of the program.
Get more for your money:
If you're paying for a day of training and not everyone can be there who needs to be, you're losing productivity. By using video, everyone benefits from the value of your investment. |
