FAQs

Do you specialize in any type of video production?
Yes. While we’ve scripted and produced almost any kind of program you can imagine, we do bring special skills to a number of video production areas. These include:
Medical and Healthcare video- We feature an on-staff writer/director with a medical background and an effective communication background.
Corporate video- We’ve shot at every corporate level in every type of corporate environment from the board room to the loading dock. We’ve interviewed everyone from CEOs and Presidents of Fortune 50 companies to five-year-old children.
Technical and Industrial video- We’ve shot in submarines and on battleships, in pharmaceutical plants and microprocessor plants, in forests and calcium carbonate mines.
Branding and Advertising video- We’ve conceived and produced local, regional and nationally broadcast TV spots, web videos and programs on DVD for direct mail, but we’re just as happy to bring a client’s creative vision to life.
Special Interest and Non-Profit video- Whatever the special interest, we bring its passion to the screen, and we have a special place in our hearts for non-profit organizations.

Do you only shoot in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area?

No. Our directors and video crews have traveled to thirty-seven states, Canada and Puerto Rico to shoot video productions of all types. Depending on the nature of the project and the location, we may use our own crews or carefully screen a local crew and send one of our directors to oversee the production.

What video formats do you shoot?
We have experience shooting most High Definition and Standard Definition formats including XDCam, DVCPro 25, DVCPro50, DVCPro100, BetacamSP, DVCAM, MiniDV, 1080i, 1080p, 720p, 480i, 480p, 24p, 30p 60i, PAL, NTSC… the list goes on. We record on tape and digital media such as P2 cards.

How long have you been in business?
We’ve been doing video production in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area since back when you had to crank the camera by hand! Well, not really, but we have been producing programs since 1979.

Might I have seen any of your work?
While most of what we produce is not intended for broadcast, we’ve shot for VH-1, E! Entertainment Television, The Food Network, and the British Broadcasting Corporation, as well as local, regional and national TV spots. We’ve worked with celebrity talent such as: Gene Simmons, Carnie Wilson, Faith Hill, George Strait, Mia Farrow, Anjelica Huston, Lauren Bacall, Barry Corbin, Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, former Philadelphia sports Coaches Dick Vermeil and Larry Brown, and Olympic Skating Champion Dorothy Hamill.

What if I want professional talent in my program?
Voiceover and on-camera talent, no problem! We work with casting directors and talent from across the region and, when appropriate, around the country. Because we are located within the Northeast Corridor, accessing talent from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C. is convenient and affordable. We can also access celebrity talent for your production and help negotiate favorable rates on your behalf.

I need a company video. Do I need to hire a producer and a director?
The answer is generally, yes. On smaller productions the producer and director may be the same person. A good producer/director will coordinate all aspects of the production, keeping the project quality high while adhering to the approved budget and timeline. A good producer/director knows how to get the production done efficiently, and can save you time and money in the long run. Higher quality, lower cost. A win-win situation.

Most people will watch my program in standard definition. Should we produce the program in high definition?
One advantage of creating the program in high definition, in addition to overall improved picture quality, is that your high definition footage will look “fresh” and “current” for years to come. If your program has a relatively short shelf life, then standard definition may be just fine. It’s possible to create the program in high definition and then make standard definition copies for general distribution. If you want high definition copies in the future, you’ll already have your “Hi-Def” master.

What services do you offer to independent producers?
In addition to our studio, we provide a variety of support services including camera operator, director of photography, teleprompter and operator, makeup artist, grips and gaffers. Indie producers have also called upon us for camera cranes, dollies, and other interesting ways of moving the camera.

Can I rent your studio and use my own crew and equipment?
Yes. While we can provide you with all of your video crew and equipment needs, you’re welcome to bring your own. The studio does come with a full lighting and grip package so you’ll want to take advantage of that. If you need Teleprompters, a jib or dolly, or a large soft-cyc green screen, those are available on an a la carte basis.

Can we shoot with audio in your studio? Is your studio a soundstage?

Yes, in fact, the majority of shooting in our studio includes audio recording using both wireless and wired microphones. We feature film-quality, boom microphones including Schoeps, and lavaliere microphones including Tram and Milimikes.
